This project included the construction of a new aquatic park featuring two pools. A 7,838 square foot leisure pool including a lazy river, zero depth entry, floatable walk area, family slide, speed slide, flume slide and water slide splash down area and a separate 4,844 square foot 8 – lane competition lap pool with a one and three meter diving board. Both bodies of water have cast-in place floors and gunite walls.

Also included in this project was the construction of a 5,400 square foot bathhouse – filter building. The bathhouse side includes the entry control station, men’s and women’s restrooms, family changing room, concession area, office area and lifeguard station. The filter side houses the filter room, backwash and balancing tank for the pools, the pool boiler room for heating the pools, electrical room, and chemical storage and processing room.

This project included over 35,000 square foot of pool deck and a 40,500 square foot parking lot.

This project was awarded ABC Heart of America Chapter’s 2011 Excellence in Construction Award, the Kansas Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s 2011 Municipal Concrete Award and the American Concrete Institute’s 2011 Concrete Construction Award.
